Tour Plan
PRIVATE TOUR / FULL DESCRIPTION
Start from hotel in Chiang Mai and Pick up time is at 8.30 am
In the morning, we will drive up to Doi Suthep, the mountain on the edge of the city that dominates the Chiang Mai skyline. Once at the top, you will find the 309 stairs up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which are flanked on each side by a beautiful Naga, who runs the entire length of the stairs. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is the most sacred temple (1383 AD). The temple is located 16 kilometers from the city and 3,500 feet (1,066 meters) above sea level. Its Relic of the lord Buddha placed inside of large golden chedi attracts Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world throughout the year. While you are there, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Chiang Mai City and the Ping Valley from this beautiful mountain temple.
Then, we will continue to the old city of Chiang Mai to visit some of the city’s most famous temples. You will see Wat Chedi Luang with its large stupa, the humble Wat Phan Lao and stunning Wat Phra Singh.
The first stop on your walking tour will be Wat Chedi Luang which was built between the 14th and 15th centuries. This impressive temple has the largest stupa in Chiang Mai. Walking around the sprawling compound, you will have the chance to see striking Lanna-style design.
The next temple is Wat Phan Tao. Compared to Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phan Tao will seem quite humble in size. However, don’t let its size fool you, this small temple features intricately carved teak wood facades. It was once a throne hall for King Mahotara Prateth before becoming a dedicated house of prayer. Wat Phra Singh is the final stop of your tour. This stunning building built in the 14th century is one of Chiang Mai’s finest temples. With amazing grounds, mosaic-inlaid sanctuary, large Lion Buddha statue and gilded pagodas, there’s a photo opportunity waiting around every corner. At 13.00 pm. Have lunch at a famous Thai local restaurant
In the afternoon, we will visit BO SANG umbrella in San Kam Peng district, Chiang Mai. This is the heart of the handicraft village, which is the most popular of the BO SANG UMBRELLA MAKING CENTRE where you can watch artisans at work in the outdoor area. Informative displays and guides also help to explain each part of the umbrella making process. From the crafting of the bamboo frames to the waterproofing techniques used on the cover, it’s fascinating to see how much work and attention goes into making each individual umbrella. If we have more time, we can see also the other local handicraft factories nearby such as silk, silverware, lacquerware carving, these are all hand-made and after that go back to the hotel.
