Tour Plan

PRIVATE TOUR / FULL DESCRIPTION

DAY 1. Pick Up at Chiang Mai Airport Transfer to hotel / Evening KhanToke Dinner (  /_ / D)

Chiang Mai is one of the few cities in Thailand where it is possible to experience both historical and modern Thai culture coexisting side by side. The city features centuries-old chedis and temples next to modern convenience stores and boutique hotels. This dichotomy is best appreciated within the moat-encircled old city, which retains much of the fortified wall that once protected the city center as well as the four main gates that provided access to the former Lanna capital city.

Once in Chiang Mai however, tourists are surprised by the fact that there are so many things to discover other than its beautiful and historic temples. Chiang Mai is also blessed with pristine natural
resources including majestic mountains, numerous waterfalls and rivers, and national parks.

Intriguing diversity among ethnic tribes, a number of elephant camps, many cooking & massage schools, numerous outdoor activities, a variety of handicrafts workshops, various cultural performances, and breathtaking scenery, make Chiang Mai being one of Asia's most attractive tourist destinations.

Pick up time at 18.00 Pm.: Khantoke Dinner

Perform the very first Khantoke Dinner show, the traditional performance shows about Northern Thai folktales and history, the highlight has delicious original Northern Lanna Style and see many dances relate to the Northern’s history, and folktales.

DAY 2. Doi Suthep Temple and City &Temples walking tour ( / L / _)

Start from hotel in Chiang Mai and Pick up time at 8.00 am.

In the morning, we will drive up to Doi Suthep, the mountain on the edge of the city that dominates Chiang Mai skyline. Once at the top, you will find the 309 stairs up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which are flanked on each side by a beautiful Naga, who runs the entire length of the stairs. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is the most sacred temple (1383 AD). The temple is located 16 kilometers from the city and 3,500 feet (1,066 meters) above sea level. Its Relic of the lord Buddha placed inside of large golden chedi attracts Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world throughout the year. While you are there, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Chiang Mai City and the Ping Valley from this beautiful mountain temple.

Then, we will continue to the old city of Chiang Mai to visit some of the city’s most famous temples. You will see Wat Chedi Luang with its large stupa, the humble Wat Phan Lao and stunning Wat Phra Singh.

The first stop on your walking tour is Wat Chedi Luang which was built between the 14th and 15th centuries. This impressive temple has the largest stupa in Chiang Mai. Walking around the sprawling compound, you will have the chance to see striking Lanna-style design.

The next temple is Wat Phan Tao. Compared to Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phan Tao will seem quite humble in size. However, don’t let its size fool you, this small temple features intricately carved teak wood facades. It was once a throne hall for King Mahotara Prateth before becoming a dedicated house of prayer.

Wat Phra Singh is the final stop of your tour. This stunning building built in the 14th century, is one of Chiang Mai’s finest temples. With amazing grounds, mosaic-inlaid sanctuary, large Lion Buddha statue and gilded pagodas, there’s a photo opportunity waiting around every corner

At 13.00 pm. Have lunch at a famous Thai local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will visit BO SANG umbrella in San Kam Peng district, Chiang Mai. This is the heart of the handicraft village, which is the most popular of the BO SANG UMBRELLA MAKING CENTRE where you can watch artisans at work in the outdoor area. Informative displays and guides also help to explain each part of the umbrella making process. From the crafting of the bamboo frames to the waterproofing techniques used on the cover, it’s fascinating to see how much work and attention goes into making each individual umbrella.

If we have more time, we can see also the other local handicraft factories nearby such as silk, silverware, lacquerware carving, these are all hand-made and after that go back to the hotel.

DAY 3. Chiang Rai, The Golden Triangle, White Temple and Blue Temple, Pick up at 8.00 am. ( / L / _)

Check out and start from Chiang Mai hotel.  After that, we will drive directly to Chiang Rai. You can sit back and relax on the air-conditioned transportation and the drive will take around 1 hour to arrive at Mae Khachan hot spring, as a breakpoint, with available toilet and restaurant services. Let’s take a view on the highest geyser in Thailand.

After that, we will drive to visit the Wat Rong Khun, a modern architectural masterpiece known as the White Temple. Explore this fantastical space and admire its unique decor made of glass, sculptural pieces and murals all designed by a famous Thai artist, Chaloemchai Khositphiphat.

12.00-13.00 pm. After visiting the White Temple, we will have lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we will visit Blue Temple or Wat Rong Suea Ten (Temple of Tigers Leaping over Channel) which is located on the banks of the Kok River, the east of the city municipality, not very far from the city. The most distinctive feature of this religious complex is the temple, which was constructed and designed by a local Chiang Rai artist. The primary color tone used is cerulean blue with gold contrast making the temple stands out. Contemporary Buddhist art reflects the dharma of the Buddha. And there is a white Buddha statue about 5 meters wide and 6.5 meters tall inside the temple.

Continue driving to up north Chiang Rai to the Land of the Golden Triangle, where the Border between Thailand, Myanmar and Laos is and this is the frontier natural main of Mae Khlong River. You can see the meeting points Panorama View of the mountainous border regions of Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand.

Then we will visit the “House of Opium”, a privately-owned museum, with the story and display about the opium trade in the past that tells stories of opium in the Golden Triangle. Through the beautiful antiques such as opium harvesting knives, scales, weights, pipes, mats and pillows, these tools represent the beliefs, cultures, traditions, and magnificent imagination of the Burmese, Shan, Chinese and tribal inventors in Thailand as well as the history of the region where the three countries meet. After that, drive way back to the hotel in Chiang Rai.
